Come join us for Lindy Hop and Balboa swing dance lessons at The Works studio in Berkeley. We
offer Friday night classes, just 5 short blocks from the U.C. Berkeley campus.
What are Lindy Hop and Balboa?

Lindy Hop and Balboa were popular dances during the 1930's and have been revived in recent years. They are the cornerstone of swing dancing in the Bay Area.

There are several venues in the East Bay and San Francisco with weekly dances to DJ and/or live music. They're fun, but even more fun if you know how to partner dance in the styles that were born during the big band era.

We'll teach you the basics, so you can step into the great American tradition of dancing to big band music.

Payment, Partners, Shoes, etc.

Our classes follow a one month progression, where each week builds on the skills taught the previous week. It's best to sign up for a full month, and we give a discount to students who do. If you want to drop in for just one class, but your skills are limited or rusty, it's best to only come on the first or second week. If your skills are strong you're welcome to drop in anytime.

It's not necessary to have a partner. It's good to wear slick-soled shoes, but wear tennis shoes if that's all you have. Please come early the first Friday of the month, so we can sign you up. You can pay with cash or a personal check. Note that 5 week months cost more than 4 week months. If you know in advance you'll need to miss a week, we can adjust the price
